As promised, here is the latest from Lynn Hyde, (CDD) Community Development Director.

Roberts has requested an additional extension and it was granted to January 24th, 2025.  

Per Lynn Hyde, Roberts & Company stated they believe this will be the last request to extend, therefore, AVAC feels Roberts’ intention may be to move forward with this Roberts Resort Village Camp proposal.

Regarding Hermosa Sanitation District.  A rate increase was approved at their last board meeting on November 14th.  The reason for this rate increase was two fold per HSD’s Office Manager, Lisa Neville, “First, Federal and state regulations are becoming tighter and the deadline to comply is within a couple of years.  Secondly, the continued proposals/interests to develop a larger project on the vacant land off of Trimble Lane.  The board feels that system improvements and upgrades will be necessary to handle these changes.  The changes are very costly and the board would like to be able to cover as much as possible without debt.  So, in a nutshell, the purpose is to increase capital project funds.”  

If you are a customer of Hermosa Sanitation District, we would suggest an email or phone call to the office manager or board members to express your concern about this rate increase. Specifically members shouldering the burden of costs to expand our current system instead of the developer, in this case potentially Roberts.  Please keep in mind the application is still in the review process, and not yet approved.
