There’s an active heron rookery adjacent to the southwest edge of the property that runs along the Animas River. This was not noted in the wildlife analysis. The development of the site, increased human activity, lights at night, noise and especially increased river use may negatively impact the heron nesting season. The nesting can be anywhere from the middle of March through the middle of July. How will the herons be protected? Restricted river use during nesting season? A comprehensive lighting plan?
